Built for people learning a language for a real reason — a partner, a family, a move, a place that already feels like yours.

The difference

Not another app that
teaches you to tap.

Mundoo is built on one belief: you learn a language by using it with someone, somewhere. Everything else follows from that.

Tutors rooted in real cities

A tutor with an address.

João isn’t a chatbot. He’s a carioca who asks about your weekend before your grammar. Léa doesn’t teach French in general; she teaches Paris, 11th arrondissement. Every tutor belongs to one city, with its slang, its rhythm, its way of saying hello.

Conversation-first

You learn by saying things.

Most apps teach you to recognise a language. Mundoo has you producing it from the first message, corrected in stride the way a friend would do it. Tap any message to hear it, tap any word to keep it.

Structured path, A1 to C2

A path that goes all the way.

Conversations, grammar challenges, listening and reading exercises, real-world scenarios, all arranged into a route from A1 to C2, with a five-part certificate test closing every level. You always know where you stand.

No gamification

Progress, not points.

No XP, no badges to farm, nothing engineered to keep you hooked. Your days in a row are shown as learning data — never a flame, nothing to lose — and certificate progress is the score that matters: it only moves when your language does.

A taste of the app

Try a little, right here.

The loop that turns each mistake into something learned, in four pieces. One is live — try it.

Fix your mistakes, with real feedback

He is nervous today.

One word in this sentence is wrong. Tap it.

Is being nervous what he is, or how he is today?

Your answer’s read by AI — the feedback is written for you, not pulled from a list.

A new word every day

saudade

saw‑DAH‑djee

deep longing, yearning, nostalgic melancholy

One locals actually use, with how to say it and a line to make it stick.

Grammar, right when you need it

Grammar rule

Reflexive verbs

Reflexive verbs describe actions done to oneself. In Portuguese they’re marked by a pronoun that matches the subject: “Eu me chamo João.” Common reflexives: chamar‑se, sentir‑se, lembrar‑se.

Reflexive pronouns

eume
você/elese
nósnos
vocês/elesse
Got it

It appears at the mistake, then you’re back to talking — no syllabus in the way.

Insight into your recurring mistakes

JoãoJoão noticed
City/country prepositions

Use ‘em’ for most cities (em Amsterdã), but when a city has an article, contract it: em + o Rio = no Rio de Janeiro.

“moro em Amsterdã / no Rio de Janeiro”

Gender agreement

Match articles and adjectives to the noun’s gender: ‘cidade’ is feminine, so it’s ‘uma cidade pequena’, not ‘um cidade pequeno’.

“Eu sou de Genk, uma cidade bem pequena”

‘Gostar’ needs ‘de’

‘Gostar’ always takes ‘de’ before what you like: ‘gosto de futebol’, not ‘gosto futebol’.

“Eu gosto de jogar futebol no fim de semana”

Based on your last 19 corrections

Your tutor keeps notes on the patterns in your own sentences.

Your tutors

Eleven cities.
One for yours.

Every tutor was built around a specific place: the slang, the rhythm, the way people actually talk there. Pick a person, not just a flag.

João
🇧🇷 João Portuguese Rio de Janeiro He’ll ask about your weekend before your grammar. Somehow you learn both.
Sofía
🇲🇽 Sofía Spanish Mexico City She teaches the Spanish people actually speak, slang and all, one conversation at a time.
Léa
🇫🇷 Léa French Paris Witty, warm, and quietly exacting — you’ll pick up real French expressions, not textbook ones.
Luca
🇮🇹 Luca Italian Rome Animated and warm, never short of a story — you’ll be speaking Italian before the story’s even finished.
Daan
🇳🇱 Daan Dutch Amsterdam Friendly and refreshingly direct — he’ll tell you what’s working and fix what isn’t, no fuss.
James
🇬🇧 James English London Dry wit and an unreasonable knowledge of which idioms people actually say.
Emma
🇺🇸 Emma English New York Talks fast, slows down for you, and speeds you up before you notice.
Mina
🇹🇷 Mina Turkish Istanbul Warm and patient — she’ll show you when Turkish turns formal and when it loosens up.
Felix
🇩🇪 Felix German Berlin Untangles German cases with the calm of someone who’s queued at a Bürgeramt.
Mariana
🇵🇹 Mariana Portuguese Lisbon Gently insisting that European Portuguese is its own music. She’s right.
Marcos
🇪🇸 Marcos Spanish Madrid Passionate and direct — he talks to you like a friend who’s decided you’ll be fluent.

How it works

From hello to certificate,
in three moves.

01
Choose your tutor and city

Pick a language by picking a person: João in Rio, Léa in Paris, Daan in Amsterdam. Tell them your level, honestly. They’ll adapt.

02
Start your first real conversation

No flashcards first. You’re talking within the first minute. Tap to hear anything, tap to translate, get a hint when you’re stuck, and get corrected the way a friend would.

03
Earn your first certificate

Work through the path and close out the level with a five-part test: grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading, writing. Pass it, and the certificate has your name on it.

The math

Tutor-level attention.
Not tutor-level prices.

We love human tutors. Mundoo just removes the two things that stop most people: the calendar and the bill.

Mundoo Pro

from €10/mo

Unlimited conversation, every tutor, the full A1–C2 path.

  • Available the moment you are, including 7am or 10pm.
  • Unlimited conversation, not an hourly meter.
  • Corrections without the embarrassment. Make the same mistake ten times; nobody sighs.
  • Remembers every mistake you’ve ever made, in a good way.
  • Certificates when you pass, A1 to C2, assessed in conversation.

Private tutor

€80–€320/mo

One or two lessons a week at typical online rates.*

  • An hour or two a week, scheduled around their calendar.
  • The meter runs while you search for your words.
  • Progress depends on who you happen to find.
  • Notes live in their notebook, not your app.
  • The great ones exist. So do their waiting lists.

*Typical online tutor rates run €10–€40 an hour with online tutor services (2026); €80–€320 a month assumes one to two lessons a week.

Or do both. Mundoo is what you do between the lessons.

FAQ

Questions worth asking.
Honest answers.

At launch, Mundoo offers Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish (Latin American), French, Italian, Dutch, German, English (British), English (American), European Portuguese, Spanish (Spain), and Turkish. Eleven languages in total, each with a tutor from the city where that language lives.

Duolingo is built around habit loops: streaks, points, leaderboards. Mundoo is built around conversation. There are no streaks to protect, no gamification to keep you hooked. Your tutor remembers what you talked about last time, corrects you the way a friend would, and helps you actually say things, not just recognise them.

Your tutor is an AI, but one built around a specific city, accent, and personality. João talks the way people talk in Rio. Léa sounds like Paris. The goal is to feel like a real conversation, not a language exercise.

Yes. Every tutor starts at A1 and walks you through from your very first sentence. The learning path is CEFR-aligned and goes all the way to C2. You can also tell your tutor where you are and they’ll adapt immediately.

Yes. You get five free conversations to get started: enough to meet your tutor, have a real exchange, and decide if Mundoo is for you. No credit card required.

For now, yes. Mundoo is available on iPhone. An Android version is on the roadmap. If you’re on Android and want to be notified when it launches, send us a message at support@mundoo.ai.

Yes, you can switch at any time. If you’re learning two languages, you can have two tutors running in parallel. Each one remembers your progress independently.

Any level. Complete beginners start at A1. If you already have some knowledge, Mundoo assesses your level during onboarding and picks up from there.

When you sign in with Apple or Google, Mundoo creates your account from just your name and email. Your profile, saved words, and conversations are kept in a secure database in the European Union, walled off so only you can see your own. Your messages are sent to the AI service that powers your tutor so it can reply, translate, and correct you — used only to run your lessons, never to advertise to you, and never sold. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy, and anything you’re unsure about, email privacy@mundoo.ai.

No. When you speak to your tutor, your recording is turned into text and isn’t saved by Mundoo. Your tutor’s voice is generated separately from text, so nothing is ever tied to a recording of you.

Yes, whenever you like. There’s a delete option in your profile that removes your account and the data tied to it. It’s permanent and can’t be undone.
